Welcome to the Isle of Wight u3a

The Isle of Wight u3a is a membership organisation for anyone no longer working full time. Membership costs £20 per year.
People join for many reasons - to meet new people, learn something new, stay active, live life to the full and have FUN!
The national u3a movement is non-religious and non-political. It started with one u3a in 1981 and there are now more than 1000 across the UK.
Each u3a is self-funded and operates independently, supported by a national 'umbrella' body called the Third Age Trust which provides support, resources, online courses and much more to members (u3a.org.uk)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Members volunteer to form their own interest groups, covering topics ranging from allotment gardening and bread making to Mah-Jong, photography, history of pub signs, creative writing, cycling, cribbage and creative writing! And there are many more - have a look on the Groups page.
We can have as many groups as we like, as long as someone steps forward to host them! They can meet in members' homes, village halls or anywhere else appropriate.
We also have regular events open to all members such as coffee mornings, Speaker meetings, walks and eating out.
Whatever members want, they can make happen. Committee members are always available to offer support and information if required.
So please explore this website using the tabs above and we look forward to seeing you soon!
